As an NHL fan, this commercial was quite entertaining for me. It features NHL star Alexander Ovechkin and his wife having a conversation regarding why Ovechkin's linemate, Nicklas Backstrom, is on their life insurance policy. Ovechkin explains that if he were to get hurt, "Backy's" power play points would drop since he wouldn't be able to pass the puck and get the assist off Ovechkin's goal. This pokes fun at Backstrom because he is known for assisting on Ovechkin's goals instead of scoring himself. As an official partner of the NHL, MassMutual did a good job appealing to fans. Using two of the biggest names in the sport definitely draws the attention of viewers, and the humorous elements made it memorable and got people around the sport talking.
